Prayer and Planning

This past month was full of opportunities to work hard at planning and turn to the Lord in prayer.  We cannot thank you enough for all of the prayer that you lifted to the Lord on behalf of our family and Small World Connections.  We want to update you on how things went for our two events and tell you more about an upcoming conference we will be part of in November and ask you to pray for our planning for 2018.

Our plans for having a missions business seminar with Tim Bock on Friday October 6th and a worship concert with Glenn Kaiser on Saturday October 7th went great.  The weather changed our plans for Saturday and we moved the concert inside to Pearce Community Center at the last minute, but overall it was a great weekend.  Tim and Glenn are both part of the Jesus People USA (JPUSA) community living in and serving the inner city of Chicago.  They both shared from their heart and were a blessing to our community in Chillicothe.  Thanks so much for praying and for getting involved.  We had 27 attend the mission business seminar to hear of ways JPUSA fund ministry through business efforts and we had a great crowd for the worship concert with Glenn Kaiser.

Practicing for ICOM

November 16-19 our staff at Small World Connections will be hosting a booth at a huge missions conference being held in Peoria Illinois.  International Conference on Missions will see hundreds of missionaries and mission orgs from all over the world come together at one location to celebrate and connect on Kingdom efforts to reach the world with the Gospel and meet the needs of His people.  At our booth we will be producing short 1-2 minute personal video greetings that visitors can then send to missionary friends all over the world with a link in an email.  We are excited to be able to offer this service to connect and encourage missionaries.  In order to be ready for this task we set up our equipment and practiced last Sunday at Chillicothe Christian Church in the foyer between services.  It went great and we have 10 trial runs at the video greetings that we will then practice sending out to be forwarded to missionaries.  Please come to the conference if you can and stop by our booth to say hello and send a greeting.  Also, please pray for us in advance for divine appointments that will help us continue to connect a Timothy Culture in the Church.

2018 Planning

Please also pray for our staff and board of directors as we look ahead to 2018 and prepare our budget and quarterly goals.  We are entering our 10th year as a mission organization and believe that the Lord is on the brink of opening some new and strategic doors that will allow us to do an even better job of connecting missions with the full Body of Christ.  Thank you for praying and please let us know if you have any ideas that we can help you implement in the coming year.

Thanks, praise and coming up!

This month we want to share a thank you that we received from one of our ministry partners, a praise for what God has done in another ministry we are part of and a few upcoming opportunities to connect a Timothy culture in the Church.  Your commitment to praying for Small World Connections and our families is a blessing that we value more and more as the years of ministry move of us further on this journey.

Our ministry partners Amy and Edwin Ahiga sent us a great Thank You card that was hand made by the boys from the soccer team in Kenya that received the donated socks and shorts to add to their team uniforms.  Amy wrote, "They placed second in a recent tournament and were very excited, but more importantly  you can see that there are changes taking place in their lives with a new focus on seeking God and having hope!"

Chillicothe Helping Hands Resale raises $1 Million!

Yes you read that correctly.  In August we hit the $1 Million mark for funds raised for charity organizations after expenses.  We are amazed at what God has done through his people in our community and praise Him for the impact this ministry has had locally and around the world.  We look forward to seeing what the next seven years will bring as we continue to serve in a spirit of sharing.

Coming up on October 7th we have the opportunity to gather as the Church and worship together in the heart of our town of Chillicothe Illinois.  Our friend and brother in Christ Glenn Kaiser will be leading an evening of worship in City Park in Chillicothe.  Please make plans to join us, bring some lawn chairs and blankets and be ready to see what God wants to do as Glenn ministers to us with his many musical talents and his heart for the Body of Christ.

Mission Business Forum with Tim Bock
October 6th - 7-9 p.m. at CrossWord Café Youth Center in Chillicothe Illinois

Join us for this great opportunity to learn and discuss many practical ways that Tim Bock has helped Jesus People USA in Chicago fund and build ministry and missions through business efforts. God has gifted Tim with a joy in serving for the past 40 years as he has been a key member of their community and contributed to furthering the Kingdom of God through business. Tim has years of experience and has written several books on the topic of mission business. Hope you can join us and learn from Tim's experience.  In fact it is because of attending one of Tim's seminars 20 years ago that the vision for Small World Connections was born.

Belize Mission Team

Also, please pray for our Belize Go Team heading out October 14th through 21st to work with our ministry partners Tim and Julie Groff.  Please pray for safety and fruitful ministry for Tyler, Cadence, Kyrie, Ruth and Bruce.

God is on the move!

We have prayer requests and praises this month that connect to ministries all over the world and in our own back yard.  Amazing to see how the Lord has us connected within the Body of Christ.  Thanks for praying for requests from last month and for looking forward with us to what He has on the horizon.

Please pray for our next conversational Spanish class beginning on October 5th.  This will be for those who have taken our beginning level class in the past and want to go further.  Our Go Team Director Emily Richards will be teaching this time around and we are hoping this will provide even more encouragement for believers to connect and engage with missions efforts in Spanish speaking countries!  Please let us know if you are interested in attending the six week class, even if you have not taken our classes in the past.  There is an evaluation available to see if you might be ready for this second intermediate level.

Uganda Connection....our brother Godfrey was with our Uganda Go Team (staff members Steve Waggoner and Chris Brett) in Uganda a few weeks ago and now he is here in the States sharing about the ministry of Juna Amagara for the next five weeks. Please pray for him as he travels and connects with the Church sharing about their ministry to orphans, refugees and others in need. God is good!

Glenn Kaiser (a pioneer in Christian music and pastor at Jesus People USA) is coming to Chillicothe in October for an open air worship concert in our downtown park.  Our hope is for many believers from all over the area to join together and worship our great King in the heart of our town and that as a result the Church will be connected in new ways for future ministry.
